Southwestern North Carolina has many amazing waterfalls. This tour provides a plan for visiting some of the most spectacular ones in the state. (Note that there are many other waterfalls in this area, but the ones on this tour are the ones we think are the best!) All of these waterfalls are south and west of Interstate 40. All of the waterfalls are free to visit; however, a couple may have nominal parking fees (have a few dollar bills handy). The grandeur of the waterfalls depends upon the amount of rain that has fallen recently. Recent rains increase the amount of water and create powerful , dramatic scenery. Many waterfalls are accessible in all seasons; however wet or winter weather may make hiking more treacherous. Fall is the busiest time of the year when leaf color is at peak. With all of the hiking and driving, this tour will take 3 days to fully complete. Take your time and enjoy the views!!!
